Explore the vast culture and history of our home town Trinidad! Having started as a pirate’s and smuggler’s nest, the city has become a Cultural World Heritage of the UNESCO. Our professional guide will lead you with profound knowledge to the most interesting sites of the town, including some “hidden gems”.
You will learn about the influence of Casa Artex and its German founders, feel the spirit of Cuban music in Casa de la Música – the house of the famours singer Isabel “La Profunda” – find magic in the aphrodisiac drink “La Canchanchara” and get inspired on Plaza Mayor with its interesting museums. The tour will take about 3 hours.
In this tour you can enjoy a spectacular horse ride through the sugar mill valley. We will explore ruins from Trinidad’s colonial period and meet farmers to have a look at their own creations, which can only be found in Trinidad (handicrafts with honey, 100% Cuban coffee from the mountains of Trinidad, the juice of the sugar cane called Guarapo).
We ride into the jungle where you can enjoy or even roast yourself a pork on a spit. In the end you can refresh yourself having a bath at the waterfall “El Pilón”, where you can enjoy an amazing landscape, take pictures and relax from the exciting adventure. The tour will take about 4-5 hours. If you are not comfortable with horseback riding we will arrange a carriage ride for you.
If you ever wanted to dive amongst coral reefs, colorful fish and mysterious ship wrecks this is the perfect opportunity for you! Our friend Pedrito runs the professional diving center “Villa Guajimico” and will give you one of the most impressive and unforgettable adventures of your lifetime. With more than 20 years of experience in diving Pedrito will lead you to marvelous and safe diving spots and provides all necessary equipment needed. Of course, the fun boat trip to the spots is part of the adventure. The tour will take a whole day.
The natural park “El Nicho” is home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Caribbean. With multiple cascades and spectacular natural pools it attracts guests for a little refreshing bath. Due to it’s hidden location in the heart of the Escambray mountain “El Nicho” still offers untouched and exotic nature and unique flora and fauna, e.g. the national bird of Cuba, “El Tocoloreo”. After the fantastic hike through the jungle you may enjoy an original Creole meal at one the restaurants in the area. The tour will take about 4-5 hours.
South of Trinidad, the wonderful Caribbean Sea spreads its warm waves over two white, sandy palm beaches: Playa Ancón and Playa Maria Aquilar. Jump into the crystal clear turquois water, have a relaxing sunbath or read a book with a fresh coconut drink in your hand. Playa Maria Aguilar offers a wonderful warm natural swimming pool surrounded by rocks and an extraordinary coral reef for snorkeling with a big variety of species. Stay as long as you wish and if you want, we can bring you to the beach in a stylish classic car.
On this tour you will dive deep into the exciting colonial history of sugar production in the “Valle de los Ingenios”. After an impressive overview of the whole landscape at the viewpoint “Mirador de la Loma del Puerto” we will visit the sugar mill “San Isidero de los Destiladeros” and the the old village of Manaca Iznaga with its breathtaking 43,5 m-observation tower. Learn astonishing facts about the sugar production during colonial times and get a taste of the delicious sugar cane juice called Guarapo.
Later we will drive to the last sugar factory of this area, where you can see parts of the machinery which were used to produce sugar until the early 60s. Last but not least we will show you the most important place of the whole valley – Granja Guaimáeo. It was the most prosperous area with sugar plantations. There you will learn about the system of slavery in all its dimensions, which was common during colonial times. The tour will take 3-4 hours and usually we arrange classical cars, if available.
Just 15 minutes outside from Trinidad you can find the most abundant vegetation in the natural park El Cubano. After a short path of just 2 km through lively jungle forest you will discover a natural pool with a splendid waterfall, perfect to refresh yourself from the Cuban heat. Relax amongst the trees and listen to singing birds and rustling trees. If you wish, you may have lunch at the park restaurant. The tour will take 4-5 hours.
The natural park Topes de Collantes (ca. 25 min from Trinidad) offers some of the most exotic hiking routes in Cuba. Whether you want to follow the path to the well-known “Caburni”-waterfall with its unbelievable natural pool or hike to the less touristic but majestic 200 m high waterfall “Vegas Grandes” the park will enchant you with its well-protected natural beauty and its impressive biodiversity.
The medium difficult routes are about 3 km to 6 km long (single way). After the hiking adventure you may have a rest at one of the Casas del Café and enjoy 100 % Cuban coffee from the Escambray mountains. On the way back you can enjoy one of the most incredible views on “El Balcon des Caribe” (Balcony of the Caribbean) where you can see the whole south coast of Cuba. The tour will take 4-5 hours.
